After the dismantling/documentation and catalogation of the parts, we started the work. First we need a firm base for the restoration. Just like a house: if You dont have a good firm base, it wont last long. The base of the Jaguar is the frame or chassis. The engine of this car is very strong even by todays standards. We need a perfect firm chassis to be in safe, so we decided to dismantle the whole chassis, sandblast it inside and outside and replace all weakened parts. We ended up with a brand new outside member, and an approximatly 60% replaced inside frame member. The middle or "bridge" part is also brand new. It is particulary important, as this is the part, where the torsion springs are attached. We used quality steel with at least the same or better strenght. This way we kept the weight about the same, but impoved the rigidity of the frame quite well.
